APC Chieftain Lauds Zulum, Military Restore Peace For NNPC Revisit Oil Exploration In Chad Basin

Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno state, Hon Yusuf Adamu has commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Military and other security agencies for restoration of peace and hope which prompted Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) to resume oil exploration on the shores of Lake Chad Basin and other Oil -reach communities in the state.

Alhaji Yusuf Adamu who was also a retired staff of the NNPC, and State Secretary of the the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) made the commendation yesterday in an interview with Journalists in Maiduguri.

Recall that the Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Mr Timipre Sylva last week led other federal government delegation to the state and had a fruitful meeting with the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai at the headquarters Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole with a view to provide adequate security as oil explorers would soon be redeployed to resumed work in the state.

Yusuf said the prevailing peace and return of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) back to their ancestral homes under the leadership of Governor Zulum is highly appreciated, as many communities on the shores of the lake Chad Basin have started picking up to life for economic recovery and transformation.

To this end, he said, revisiting oil exploration will not only create jobs to the teaming youths but also generate revenue to the Government’s sustainable development.

He said “Based on the data collated by the NNPC, there is traces of hydrocarbon in Borno . There had been oil exploration in recent past by NNPC in some communities of Kukawa, Mobbar, Magumeri and Abadam local Government Areas which shares border with Lake Chad Basin, unfortunately, such efforts were frustrated by activities of insurgents, but with the attainment of relative peace in Borno now, the resumption of oil exploration is not only timely, but a welcome development”.

“We are very excited as Borno will soon join the oil producing States in the country where our teaming youths would get employed and also increase the revenue base of the government”. Adamu stated.

He therefore enjoin all and sundry to give their  maximum support and cooperation to the present administration and the security agencies for their tireless efforts in the fight against terrorism and other criminal acts that are detrimental to sustainable growth and development.
