BOKO HARAM BOMB KILLS OFFICER, INJURES TWO OTHERS IN BORNO

Mainok is situated along Maiduguri -Damaturu-Kano road, and a community of Kaga Local Government Area which had witnessed series of deadly Boko Haram attacks.

A reliable source told our Correspondent in Maiduguri that the troops were returning from an operation, when one of patrol
vehicles runs over planted IEDs along Maiduguri/Damaturu road.

Confirming the incident Tuesday in Maiduguri, one of the Civilian JTF who participated in the evacuation/rescue mission, but is not authorised to talk to the press disclosed that, “increased activities of insurgents in Mainok/Jakana axis, enable them plant explosives along this road,” noting that it was very unfortunate for soldiers to have run over planted explosives.

He said with the neutralization of over 1, 000 terrorists, the surviving ones attack military posts; along with the planting of IEDs
along roads that intercepts Boko Haram crossing points in Borno and Yobe states.

While lamenting incessant attacks, residents of Mainok also Tuesday said: “We saw soldiers evacuating the corpse of their colleague and the injured.

“It is very unfortunate. We have to keep on praying for our soldiers.” adding that it not easy protecting lives and property along these troubled roads.

Similarly, there was also reported attack on Tuesday afternoon in Gubio town of Gubio council by suspected insurgents.

A residents of Gubio, Mallam Ali Abba Aji and Abor Umar said that insurgents attempted to infiltrate the council headquarters
targeting military posts and other locations in the theatre war.

According to Umar, the superior firing power of troops enables repelled
terrorists to restore normalcy in Gubio.
“This security situation in our community is now under control sir,” he said.
