Dr. Yusuf Lawal, the Hon. Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad

Abubakar, who was represented by Mrs. Chris-Benjamin Uche, Assistant Director, Environmental Health, said the Certificate was in honour of the swift response and proactive measures taken by the

Board to decontaminate its offices nationwide with a view to curbing the spread of COVID-19. It asserted that by doing so, the Board had not only protected its staff but also clients who regularly visit the Board for one service or another. The Board, had in full compliance with the directive of the Federal Government instituting a partial resumption of work, sought the services of the Environmental

Health Officers Registration Council of Nigeria (EHORECON) to decontaminate all its offices nationwide. It would be recalled that the Board equally installed Disinfectant Sprayers, Pedal-Operated Hand Washing Machine in its offices to ensure that no staff or client is unnecessarily exposed to the virus.

Speaking further on the agency’s pro-active measures concerning the dreaded Convid-19, the board’s Public Relations helmsman,Dr Fabian Benjamin highlighted the introduction of the SMA(R)T phone number. This was followed by

the Appointment Booking Platform, an innovation that is crucial to our desire to

render quality service while ensuring that extant guidelines relating to physical distancing, as issued by relevant agencies to curb the spread of COVID -19, are adhered to. The booking platform is essentially geared towards forestalling any incidence of crowd gathering at any of the Board’s offices for any reason. With this mechanism in place, no candidate can visit any of the Board’s offices without first securing an appointment tied to a specific date and time. As the government continues to ease the

lockdown especially with the recent directive for schools to open for those in

terminal classes, it has become imperative for the Board to allow such students who had taken its examination and desired to request one service or another from the Board to do so. In line with the Board’s resolve to always provide effective and efficient services to its clients, JAMBulletin in its current edition  highlighted   the o p e r a t i o n s o f t h e O n e – T i m e Password(OTP) which temporally replaces biometric verification through the use of fingerprints.

A ft e r  s u c c e ssf u l l y  b o o k i n g  a n appointment, at the centre, there could be a number of services that a candidate may wish to access which require payment as all payments for any of the Board’s services must be made on its platform. As such, for those that want to pay at the JAMB Office, they would need to have an ATM card to facilitate the payment process or in the alternative, they could proceed to a commercial bank to do so. As soon as payment is successful, an OTP would be sent to the candidate’s phone after which he/she can complete the process. The OTP temporarily replaces biometric verification by way of fingerprints as a means of curbing the

spread of the virus. Candidates are, therefore, urged to take advantage of these innovations to access any of the Board’s services they desire unhindered. For services, complaints or inquiries that do not require physical contact, our online ticketing platform  is accessible through our website:www.jamb.gov.ng.
