Jigawa Governor Signs Revised 2020 Budget

Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of jigawa state has assented to 2020 reversed budget with a pledged to sticks to budgetary financial discipline, and implementation in line with policies of budgetary policies.
The reversed budget from N153.920b was reduced to N124.357 a drop of about 28.5b, representing 19 per cent drop in the size of the budget.
According to him, the reduction was not peculiar to the state budget alone as it also affects the state local government budget from N72.5b to now N56.2 b, a drop of about 16.33 per cent.
He stated that this is necessary in attending to other extra spending especially that 13 per cent of the budget will be dedicated to Covid-19 pandemic, other business stipulations, among other specific spendings.
Shedding high light’s on the reversed budget, the finance commissioner, Hon. Babangida Umar Gantsa said the original budget size was N103b but later reduced to N123.4b amounted to the reduction of 19 per cent.
For that of local government budget it was reduced from N72.21b to N56.21b reduced by 17 or 23 per cent of the budget size.
He attributed the revision of the budget to Covid-19 pandemic which affects the world economically sitting an example of the drop in the oil revenue which crashed from 27 dollars per barrel to 18 dollars per barrel, that actually necessitated for the reversed budget proposal’s, he declared.
