Member Representing Kaga, Magumeri and Gubio Federal Constituency in Borno State, Hon Usman Zannah at the week end paid a sympathy visit to victims who were affected in multiples attacks by suspected members of dreaded Boko Haram Sect where assorted bags of foodstuff and other relief items worth millions of naira were donated and distributed to thousands of people in the affected communities.
Recalled that recently armed Boko Haram sect have been terrorizing communities of Magumeri Local Government Area located 42km north away from Maiduguri, the state capital, with renewed attack on the Council Headquarters last Monday where a lactating mother was killed by stray bullets, while a hospital and telecommunications mast were razed down, leaving hundreds of people displaced with no means of livelihoods.
Accompanied by stakeholders and ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters, Hon Zanna also paid a sympathy visit to the people who fled from their homes and other surrounding villages and currently taking refuge at a primary school in Magumeri town.
The Lawmaker while sympathizing with the people of the area for their resilience prayed for lasting peace not only in the area but the country as a whole.
He presented relief materials which comprised of Food and Non food items to cushion their immediate hardship.
Among the relief items distributed include; 833 bags of rice, 830 bags of Millet, 833 bags of Maize flour and 166 bags of Sorghum 25lg each.
Also distributed are 166 carton of spaghetti, 56 bags of sugar, 330 cartons of tomatoes paste, 166 gallon of vegetable oil and 260 packs of maggi.
Others are 600 pieces of mattress, 600 pieces of mosquitoes nets, 600 of blankets, 600 mats,160 cooking pots, 330 wrappers, 660 pieces of children’s wear and 500 rubber buckets.
Responding on behalf of the people of the Council, the District Head of Magumeri, Abba Fari Shehu Abubakar Garbai commended Zannah for his sympathy visit to the affected communities and presentation of relief items to victims of insurgency.
He said, the items donated would be judicuously distributed to the real beneficiaries, even as he called on meaningful individuals and corporate organisations to emulate such gesture, as almost all the people of the area are in dare need of assistance following the renewed lingering atrocities posed by terrorists.
