The Pro- Chancellor and Chairman Governing Board of the newly established Borno State University (BOSU), Dr Mohammed Indimi has said that throughout his life, he has not sat down in a class to receive any teaching either A,B,C,D.

Indimi however thanked God that out of sheer determination and commitment, he had excelled educationally to even earn PhDs (Honory Causa) from different Universities within and outside Nigeria, and can write and speak English fluently including, Arabic, French and other major languages.
Mohammed Indimi OFR, Nigerian billionaire businessman, philanthropist, founder and chairman of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), a privately-held Nigerian oil exploration and production company stated this at the formal Inauguration of the BOSU Governing Council as Chairman by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at Government House, Maiduguri.
He expressed gratitude to governor Zulum and all stakeholders for finding him worthy of the appointment, even as he promised to do his best take the University to a greater height within the ambit of the law.
“This is a great opportunity for me to be here and be inaugurated as the Pro- Chancellor of this University.
“I would do my best with the support from my team members to contribute towards the growth of this University.
“I would also like to use this Forum to thank Borno state Government under your leadership for the continued support and cooperation.
“I have took time recently and visited the University,  and all the infrastructures put in place including the Senate building, faculty buildings, staff quarters, lecture halls and road networks are very impressed and highly commendable.
“Council will make sure that all staff welfare issues be given a topmost priority and security of lives and property of the University community would be handled with with sincerity of purpose, considering the current security situation bedeviling some schools in the federation.
“Council will also make sure that unwholesome conduct such as drug abuse, cultism and all other forms of criminalities are not condoned within or outside the campus.
“You should all be rest assured that the Governing Council under my chairmanship would do it’s best to ensure academic excellence within the law established.
“I said these because, I have never go to school in my life and nobody has taught me ABCD, and between me and my children, we have more than 20 Degrees in the family. I thank God”. Indimi stated.
The Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe who read the citation of Indimi also presented him before Governor Zulum for inauguration
He said, the investiture of Dr. Alhaji Mohammed Indimi as Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council for the Institution is timely and commendable, considering his pedigre.
He said, the University commenced academic activities in October, 2019 with a matriculation of 647 students.
The Vice Chancellor said, the institution started with 32 programmes in four faculties, namely; Agriculture, Arts, Education, Special and Management Sciences, and Pure science among others currently taking place at the university community.
Sandabe pointed out that the University is at advanced stage to introduce medical sciences, Law and Engineering Courses, as the Governor has approved the construction of beffiting Medical Colleges and Teaching Hospital which is currently ongoing.
He further revealed that the institution has entered into memorandum of action with Unversity of Maiduguri and two other Bangladesh Universities to ensure academic excellence.
He noted that government has also provided critical infrastructures, as it has completed the construction of the Senate Building, Faculty buildings, Professorial Quarters, Students’ Hostels, Lecture theatres, staff offices, road and drainage networks.
In an efforts to compliment the state government’s efforts, the management of the University visited various interventional organizations with the aim to develop infrastructures.
The management in particular visited National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) for the establishment of Information Technology Hub which was approved. This hub which has been completed and equipped with internet according to NITDA, is one of the largest in the country, this in addition to numerous ongoing projects been executed by TETFUND.
In his address, governor Zulum described Indimi as the Pro- Chancellor of BOSU as a life saving grace to the education sector in the state.
He said, education is the most critical sector for economic development,  hence his administration will continue to invest heavily in the sector.
He noted that the establishment of this University would serve as a determinator to the promotion of the state after more than a decade destruction by insurgents.
He noted that the institution under his leadership as recieved a boost as billions of naira has been approved and expended towards providing conducive learning environment to the teaming youths who are determined to excel educationally.
Zulum however promised that Government will not hesitate to support the institution at all times with the scarce resources at its disposal. end
