Pep Guardiola has described young Manchester City winger Sam Edozie as ‘incredible’ after the teenager made it three goals in as many pre-season games.
Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling, who normally play in his left-sided berth but are still not back from holiday, and the 18 year old has made the most of his chance.
Edozie has shown good pace and trickery since arriving from Millwall for an initial £400,000 last year, and was in the right place at the right time to score the early opener as City beat Blackpool 4-1 on Tuesday evening.
The forward also scored against Preston and Barnsley in the last week, giving him a three-goal pre-season haul that only Riyad Mahrez can match.
Speaking after the game, City boss Guardiola said that the Nigeria-born youngster has plenty of promise.
“ I like Samuel like all of them, hes incredibly good,as a young talent having a special quality, a guy who gets to the box with the intention to score the goal is important for wingers,” he said.
“He’s an incredible young player, good pace, great skills .I will be patient with him. With minutes they play good and this is important.”
Edozie’s goal was rubbed out by Luke Garbutt’s penalty for the Seasiders, but Mahrez restored the lead before Ilkay Gundogan scored twice to put the result beyond doubt.
